Physical consequences of different quantum boundary conditions

Date: Tuesday, February 24, 4:30pm-6:00pm
Speaker: Prof. Tamas Fulop KEK
Title: Physical consequences of different quantum boundary conditions
Room: 55N-02-Conference Room of Dept. of Appl. Phys. and Dept. of Phys.
Many quantum mechanical systems require some boundary condition, and different choices of a boundary condition may have remarkable physical consequences. This will be demonstrated by simple yet illustrative examples. Actually, in the talk, first I would briefly introduce quantum boundary conditions through some simple examples (half line, circle, box), and then I would discuss the example presented on my poster in Kyoto (quantum pressure caused by different boundary conditions) in detail.
